What is Critical Illness?

Critical Illness cover pays a lump sum to you once you have been diagnosed as having a specific critical illness. A claim will normally be accepted a short time (such as 28 days) after the diagnosis is confirmed and accepted by the insurers. It is designed to provide a financial cushion in the event of you having to face one of these critical illnesses such as a heart-attack, cancer, stroke or kidney failure. Will the insurance payment be subject to tax?

Under the present rules, no tax will be deducted from the claim payment.
