What is an ISA?

An Individual Savings Account which provides you with tax efficient planning, and which protects your savings from being the subject of either Income or Capital Gains Tax.

Who may invest in ISA’s?

Any UK resident aged 18 or over may invest in a maxi ISA or in a Mini Cash ISA and or a Mini Stocks & Shares ISA.

How much can I invest?

You can invest up to £7,200 per year in a Maxi ISA. Alternately, you can invest up to £3,600 in a mini Cash ISA and up to £3,600 in a Mini Stocks & Shares ISA. Under current Government guidelines you cannot put money into a maxi and mini ISA in the same tax year.

Can an ISA be taken out in Joint names?

No. Your spouse or partner can take out an ISA in their own names and therfore can the same tax benefits as yourself.

Risks of investing in shares

If part of your investment in either a Mini or Maxi ISA involves shares, the value of your investment can go down as well as up and you may not get back the full amount invested.

The value of investments and income from them can fluctuate (this may partially be the result of exchange rate fluctuations) and investors might not get back the full amount invested. Past performance is not a guide to future performance.
